JohnJo Devlin

Born and raised in London, England, JohnJo Devlin began reporting on Scandinavia in 2019. After tracking down wolf hunters in the forests of Norway, he was hooked on the Nordics, and soon he was searching coast to coast for whalers in the frigid Barents sea.

In 2021 JohnJo moved to Oslo and now reports from across the region for major British publications including the BBC, Economist, and the Times. His specialisms include energy, defense, international relations, minority rights, demographic change, and regional politics.

He has traveled deep within the arctic circle for VICE, reported on growing tensions along the Finnish-Russian border for the Telegraph, and island-hopped in the Oslo Fjord for the German broadcaster DW. With a deep and broad array of contacts, he has interviewed senior figures including Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store, and the Head of Intelligence in the Finnish armed services, among others.

JohnJo Devlin speaks Norwegian and writes in English. He gets by in Danish and Swedish and is fearful but excited to one day tackle Finnish.
